where i need to be

bagpipes are blaring out my window. burns night is here and they are celebrating with a full band and street food nearby. i celebrated burns night last year and mentioned a bit about it in this post dedicated to pancake day.

sometimes, everything happens all at once. next week i’m going to betray the south-londoner in me and move up north. i would write about how much i’ll be missing the green spaces and fresh air, but actually, my new home is only a short walk away from alluring highgate and lovely hampstead. i have yet to explore highgate cemetery but there will be ample opportunity to do so from here on out.

it’s strange to have lived in london for three years and not yet had to move. it seems like such a long time in this city that is constantly shifting and changing. i have been happy… content in my current flat that has evolved and grown and seen more than a handful of residents throughout the last three years. it is filled with smells and artwork, and remnants from so many memories. with that said, things change. people change. it can be difficult to see a situation for what it is, yet change is natural and absolute in it’s necessity.

if i wasn’t minimising my collection of stuff last year, it is definitely happening now. bags and bags of treasures and clothing will soon go to the boot sale. it amazes me – what a little motivation can do to get you where you need to be.

i guess i’m not exactly sure where i need to be,
but archway sounds like a good start.

dried flowers, moving to a new place, bermondsey, postcards, mortar and pestle, art, saying goodbye, changes, feathers, flora, old books, fireplace mantel, london, home in london, making a new home

home has been good to me.
