four of swords

well, my start date with the airline has been pushed back. not indefinitely, but for at least a few more weeks. after waiting such a long time, a few weeks doesn’t seem like much to fret about…
but then again, when you’re ready, you’re ready.

now i’m waiting for news of a new date and making the most of my extra time in london – by spending it with friends, alone, and dancing.
a lot of dancing.
salsa, bachata, and various others. the other day i was being spun around my first rueda de casino before i even realised what was happening.

rueda de casino, cuban culture, cuba, rueda de casino in cuba, havana, habana cuba, rueda in havana, cuban salsa, salsa dancing in havana, dancing in a circle, cubans dancing, sunny day, colourful city, holiday in cuba, dancing in cuba, salsa dancers
photo i took of a rueda before i knew what it was.
– havana, cuba in december –

it’s safe to say that latin dancing will be a lifelong passion. not so surprising as i have always loved to dance. endless childhood memories of my parents playing tunes before a night out, my dad cranking up the volume, singing along like the rock star he’s convinced he should have been. my elegant mother applying her bright red lipstick and sterling silver jewelry. and there i was in the living room… learning how great it felt to move around to music.

london has a vibrant dance scene. i’ve met people from every corner of the world, and it’s beautiful how we all share this common denominator. the events in london are never ending, with bachata & salsa nights / classes happening all around the city nearly every day of the week. not that i go out every day, but two or three times a week is pretty standard at this point.

i can’t imagine my life without it. dancing gives me energy, it’s making me stronger. i think i’m going to keep at it. i think i don’t have a choice.

a while back, i drew the four of swords.

four of swords, renaissance deck, tarot cards, daily tarot reading, brian williams, floral dress, achilles and patroclus, minor arcana, taking notes, girl in a coffee shop, reversed four of swords, tarot, suit of swords, element of air

– {reversed} four of swords –

  • while the four of swords in the upright position can signify contemplation, recuperation, passivity, relaxation and rest, the reverse of this card can indicate restlessness, stagnation, or a lack of action
  • may be getting sick or stressed as a result of trying to accomplish a long list of tasks and pushing yourself
  • “you may also be trying to avoid any period of contemplation or meditation on a particular issue because you are worried about what it might bring up. you need to return to the energy of the three of swords and confront the pain and grief that exists within your heart. you need to experience that pain as it is preventing you from being able to move on. once you have experienced it, it will begin to subside and you will be able to live a more fulfilling life.”
  • something long-term in your life may no longer be progressing and may be devoid of any real emotion – take a break from the situation and come back to it later, when the energy is flowing better
  • frustrated over a lack of progress and/or change
  • a situation may be moving slowly, but it is the result of passivity and not taking action to change things
