page of pentacles

“hey, all you had to do was stay.
all you had to do was stay.
had me in the palm of your hand
why’d you have to go and lock me out when i let you in.
well it could have been easy,
all you had to do was stay.”

today i drew the page of pentacles.

page of pentacles, page of coins, renaissance tarot deck, tarot cards, learning the cards, fante di denari, boy holding a coin, material world, manifestations, learning tarot, one by one, pen and journal, white feather, renaissance deck, 1987 tarot, brian williams, mythological and allegory, silk wrap

according to one of my favourite tarot resources, the suit of pentacles corresponds to the physical or material aspects of your health, finances, work and creativity.

positive aspects: manifestation, realisation, proof, and prosperity
“they have to do with what we make of our outer surroundings – how we create it, shape it, transform it and grow it. on a more esoteric level, pentacles are associated with the ego, self-esteem and self-image.”

negative aspects: being possessive, greedy or over-materialistic, over-indulging and not exercising, not managing finances effectively or putting too much focus on your career so that it affects other parts of your life negatively
“often what is required to counteract these negative aspects is a return to nature to ground oneself and rediscover what is truly important.”

– {upright} page of pentacles meaning –

  • card of new beginnings, inspiration, and the initial stage of a creative project or venture
  • alchemical element of earth and in this sense, the coin that the page holds may symbolise the beginnings of sensual awareness, not only in terms of money and it’s value, but also in terms of a growing awareness of the importance of health and other material / physical needs
  • a card of dreams and desire to manifest goals and ‘dreams’ in the material world
  • asking you to grow and expand in a way that generates prosperity and wealth for the future
  • the page of pentacles has the desire to learn all things, he is dedicated to knowledge and the attainment of wisdom and new skills
  • a time when you need to be able to apply careful planning and use common sense
  • devoted to all in which he is engaged, and has great concentration in his interests and pursuits

i’m not really sure why i am writing blog posts centered around these cards, and what i am learning from and about them. publicly sharing my discoveries certainly wasn’t part of the plan when i decided to take my tarot abilities to another level.

all i know is that this will be a very long process, and i am fascinated by this practice that has existed for hundreds of years. why not share the process?

in my opinion, tarot is not sorcery and fortune telling so much as delving into and realising the psyche that already exists inside of you. it is a tool that you can use to perceive life, the world, and your existence from another angle. it is the ability to analyse your options in another way, like stepping outside of yourself and looking in at a situation from another set of eyes. yet they are very much your eyes, opened by whoever is doing your reading. it is an art that you can manipulate and explore to reveal your deepest desires, and to validate or refute the choices you have made or have yet to make.

i think that i’ll continue to make these posts. i’ve always been fascinated by divination and self-discovery, and the simple act of writing will help me to remember the things i learn along the way – about the cards, and about myself.
